Hardwood Pottery Tool, Gully Maker

$24.00

Back in Stock!

The Gully Maker is a tool I designed to create the u shaped channel between the flange of the lid and the outer rim of the lid. This two sided tool has one narrower end and one wider end. It can also be used for making a variety of marks and grooves in soft clay.

*There is also a second option here for one side that is flat for making a gallery or other types of marks. See last photo.

**Please let me know in the notes at checkout if you would like the flat edge.

I make these tools because I’ve always wanted the wood tools that I’ve purchased to be more durable. I also wanted them to be a little more ergonomically comfortable. I’ve added some grooves in the right places for comfort!

These hardwood tools are made from reclaimed woods, mostly cherry and maple. These are durable, dense hardwoods... perfect for this type of tool. My tools are finished with beeswax (from our very own bees) and a food grade mineral oil mixture.

Each tool has my stamp LF burned into the wood.

To extend the life of the tools it’s best not to leave them in your slurry bucket, and to wipe them clean after using.

Size: 3/4” w x approx. 7” L …wood is reclaimed, so sizes vary slightly.

The tools pictured are to show variations of the kind of wood you may receive. This order contains one tool.

Please check out the videos on my blog page to see some of the ways that I use the tools.
