Time once again to open my studio to the public for my 21st Annual Holiday Sale! Join me at my studio in Greenfield, MA. next Saturday and Sunday, 10-4 both days. I'll have lots of new pottery and quite a few seconds available!
Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I have been making pottery since my senior year of high school, that's 42 years... wow, that sure is a long time!
I became a full time potter back in 2001. I remember my first open studio here at my newly renovated barn in December 2001. My 6 year old son Luke made me a sign, (that I saved all these years, see below). Luke and his 4 year old brother Andrew were so excited Mommy was having her first holiday sale in her new studio!
Well the boys are grown men now and far from home, and I am still in that renovated barn. I've been able to make a living doing what I love, thanks to all of my customers who share my love of pottery.
There is just something about handmade pottery that brings joy to daily rituals. Maybe it's the comfortable mug in your hands where you can see and feel where the potter's fingers pushed and pulled the clay. Or maybe it's the layered depth of color or sparkle of a glaze that can't be manufactured for a big box store. It's these little touches that create connection from the maker to the receiver.
