22nd Annual Holiday Open Studio and Seconds Sale

It's busy, busy, busy here making lots of pottery for the holiday season!

There will be a new line of work this season. I've been happily working in a brown stoneware clay and applying a slip decoration over the clay. The slip is made from clay that I dug from the riverbank in my backyard. The clay from the Green River is a light green, making the the river itself a beautiful light green color. When the trees along the riverbank fall, it exposes large veins of solid clay which makes it easy for me to gather.  I've experimented with this clay for many years and learned that it can hold its shape at a low fire temperature, but melts at the higher temperature that I fire to... hence it makes for a good slip.
I have been making lots of bowls of all sizes, plates, mugs, and soon I will be on to lidded jars.

So, save the date for the Studio Holiday Sale! December 9th-10th from 10-4 both days. I will have lots of seconds, discontinued, and experimental work at discounted prices! New this year, my spouse Terri will have her wooden cutting boards available for sale. (See photo below with my bowls). Come and watch pottery demonstrations at noon on both days, while enjoying some warm cider and cookies.

If you live far away, and can’t get to the open studio sale, I will put some new work in my website shop on December 9th at noon Eastern time.
